Claim on You!: Proactive steps you can take to avoid IP malpractice claims

Malpractice and other liability claims can, of course, happen at any time, but being forewarned about the current trends in IP liability claims can help you guard your practice. In this ethics CLE session, Tracy Kepler—the former Director of the Center for Professional Responsibility for the ABA and now CNA’s Risk Control Consulting Director—will guide you through the current and emerging trends in IP professional liability claims. She’ll explain the USPTO Rules of Professional Conduct at issue in each, discuss the lessons learned, and help attendees identify best risk management practices to avoid them. By the end of this program, attendees will be able to:

  • Spot facts and circumstances leading to potential violations of the USPTO Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Implement and utilize effective strategies and practices to avoid conduct that may lead to malpractice claims
  • Learn best practices for minimizing risk around conflicts of interest, calendaring/docketing, fee issues, and more
